Hear a rumbling out there in Western Kenosha County a little after 9 p.m.? According to discussion between dispatch and sheriff’s deputies, it appears to be due to a fireworks show at Wilmot Mountain ski hill that started at 9 p.m.

Ironside not running for re-election for Silver Lake trustee

Barbara Ironside, who in the last few months has resigned, then was reappointed to, her Village Board seat, has filed non-candidacy papers saying she will not run for re-election in April. Harris not running for re-election as Paddock Lake trustee

Only Karen Harris filed a non candidacy statement for Paddock Lake trustee, due late last week. That means Harris will not be on the ballot in the April re-election. However, the other incumbents, Barbara Brenner and Joseph Riesselmann, are apparently intending to run for re-election. Filing of nomination papers closes Jan. 3 at 5 p.m.

Paddock Lake office closed Friday clarification

Whoops! A error in the letter with Paddock Lake tax bills gave the wrong date that the office is closed. The date is key if you want to make sure your taxes are recorded as paid in 2011. The office will be closed Friday, Dec. 30, as well as the date in the letter.

Community Library branches to close Friday and Monday for New Year holiday

Community Library branches at Salem and Silver Lake will be closed from Friday, Dec.  30, through Monday, Jan. 2, in observance of the New Year Holiday. Normal hours at both locations will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 3. The Community Library branch located in Twin Lakes still remains closed for remodeling.
