Salem and Bristol to host joint safety fair

The public safety departments of Salem and Bristol will host a joint safety fair on Saturday, June 4, at Salem’s Community Park, 9410 256th Avenue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event is building upon a similar fair organized by Bristol Public Safety Officer Mark Niederer the last two years. He and Salem Public Safety Officer David Shortess decided to combine forces this year and have the event’s location alternate between the two municipalities each year.

Among the planned activities and dispalys include:

  • Salem & Bristol Fire Departments equipment and Fire demonstrations.
  • Kenosha County Sheriff department equipment display and demonstrations.
  • Dare Officer -child photo and fingerprint station.
  • K-9 officer demonstration.
  • Neighborhood Watch information.
  • Dangerous Home chemicals safety information- “Mr. Yuk.”
  • Kenosha County Human Services Co-sleeping Death Prevention information.
  • Elderly Adult Safety information.
  • Infant/child seat inspections.
  • National bike registration.
  • Bike Helmet giveaway.
  • Home gun safety tips.
  • Gunlock giveaway.
  • Unused and /or unwanted prescription drug drop off.
  • Boat Safety tips and drive up equipment checks by DNR.
  • Family Safety checklist information.
  • Phosphorus free fertilizers for sale by Trevor Feed (required by ordinance).

    the drive up inspection – with your boat on the trailer – is a nice thing
    for those who boat infrequently but wish to be compliant!
