The Westosha Kiwanis Club is supporting a Brighton man who will compete at the 2011 Special Olympics World Games in June.

Christopher Mark, 18, a senior at Wilmot High School, was presented a check for $1,000 May 23 from Westosha Kiwanis President Steven Bluemel.

Mark, an athlete of Western Kenosha County Special Olympics, was selected to compete in the World Games in Athens, Greece, to be held June 25 through July 4, 2011. Team USA includes athletes and coaches from all 50 states and 185 countries. Mark is one of two Wisconsin athletes chosen. He will compete in track and field in the 200m, 100m 4x100m relay and long jump.

“This is a once in a lifetime experience,” stated Marcia Nolan.

His family as well as his coaches need support to help defray the cost of the trip. Coaches are strictly volunteers who devote countles hours in sporting events throughout the year.
