First Fridays start today at Visitors Information Center

The Visitor Information Center at I-94 & Hwy. 165 serves as the gateway to Wisconsin for countless Illinois travelers. Beginning today, April 1, the first Friday of every month April through September will offer visitors the opportunity to meet Kenosha Area business and attraction operators, enjoy tasty food samples, win a hotel stay, and more at the First Friday events. The open house-style event runs from noon to 3 p.m. and is free.

The center is one of two visitor information centers operated by the Kenosha Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. First Fridays will offer samples, coupons, raffles, demonstrations, games and much more from a variety of local businesses and attractions. Visitors and residents alike are encouraged to stop by to see what is going on in the Kenosha Area. Attendees may enter to win a free hotel stay and take their photo with Tripp the Tourist to win prizes. KACVB staff will be on hand to offer travel advice, give directions, and provide local and select Wisconsin literature.

April 1 also marks the beginning of summer hours at the I-94 Visitor Information Center. The center is staffed seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., April through October. The remainder of the year the center is open Tuesday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Encouraged by the warm response that Fall Frenzy, a one-day event, received last October, the KACVB decided to expand the event across many months. Fridays are typically a busy day, as travelers begin their weekend getaways.

“We encourage travelers on the road to stop in and explore the Kenosha Area. Local residents planning their Wisconsin vacations, or wanting to learn more about their own town, will also appreciate the one-on-one travel assistance we offer,” states Dennis DuChene, KACVB president.

The I-94 Visitor Information Center is located at the southeast corner of I-94 and Hwy. 165, at 10519 – 120th Ave. (Exit 347). The KACVB also has a Visitor Information Center located at 812 56th St. in Downtown Kenosha. The non-profit organization was established 25 years ago to increase visitor appreciation of and spending in Kenosha County, thus improving the economy of the region.
